Artist Republic in Toronto!
As most of u may recall myself FLY LADY DI moved from Brooklyn to the Tdot in search of self expansion in my Canadian hometown. Needless to say it's been treating me well. Thanks to my biggest supporters @ManifesTO_Fest I've been able to represent LIVE PAINTING in the fullest form.
Here you see me paint live for the CBC HIP HOP SUMMIT that took place on April 1st, 2011 - keeping things phresh as ever... (shouts out to Isaak and Nyle whom I painted with that day)
Below is a live painting I did for the Greater Toronto Civic Action Summit where all the suits of Toronto came together to talk about the issues plaguing the city. It was nice to represent ART and LIVE PAINTING here. Below is an illified map of Toronto that I created with my undeniable paint skills...

SEY x ¥€$ - HARD IN THE PAINT ART SHOW @ Downtown LA Art Walk - April 14th
SEYxYE$ is a graphic pop artist, born in Tokyo, Japan, raised in New York City and currently based in Los Angeles, CA. His art reflects a blend of popular culture and street culture, with an identifiable and conscious message.
Sei's dynamic techniques include the dynamic application of vibrant colors with bold and graphic contoured forms. His style hints at mixed influences from artists like Roy Lichtenstein , Andy Warhol , Jackson Pollock, Shepard Fairey, and Banksy.
Sey works with a vast range of mixed mediums from acrylic and spray paint, and lighting. His paintings presents a new flare to nostalgic imagery with a sensei-tional twist.
Additionally, Sey is also an active member of Brooklyn based art collective, The Artist Republic. Artist Republic, Jr!
A HUGE CONGRATULATORY SHOUT OUT to Artist Republic's own Brian "Yang-Chi" Rothwell and his Jessica on their new baby boy BISHOP ELISHA ROTHWELL!!
Baby was born on Tuesday, November the 11th, 2010 weighing in at 7 lbs and 6.5 oz, 19.24 inches long... DAYUM! That's tall.
According to PAPA B, Jessica was so strong during the natural birth, and Bishop already has his own Scorpio personality. Funny how they come out all packaged and ready to go! The amazing wonders of life.
I'll leave it up to B to post other details, but for now, proud Aunt Di Di needed to blog about this asap!

Brian Rothwell Coogi Designer
Artist Republics BR (Brian Rothwell) is also a head designer at the urban menswear brand "Coogi". His designs have been getting some attention by musical artists and magazines in the hip hop world.
N.O.R.E. representing in his newest video "Nutcracker" sporting a BR design for Coogi.
Here Styles P of the Lox picked out a BR design from Coogi for this XXL magazine editorial shot. The hoodie is a BR design. We love how the design of the piece really dictates the shot.

ILLBEGOTTEN : Solo Exhibition By Brian Rothwell in DUMBO Brooklyn
It was a great turn out. It was also the 1st and only Friday night event presented by Creative Consciousness NYC. The crowd was electric and really receptive to the art. The playlist consisted of a diversity that represented the range of people who came to support. From Pink Floyd to WuTang Forever, El Michaels Affair to Nina Simone.
Friends from far and wide came to be inspired! There were friends from Pratt and different Brooklyn affiliations, Jersey was in the house, also some of my industry people from Coogi, Crown Holder and even representatives from Australian hip hop magazine Hell Yeah!.
Everyone left inspired to draw or paint even if they had never done so before hand. The VIP room was sponsored by Sour Diesel. Here are a few pieces of the 23 displayed in the show.
Each person had a different favorite piece. ILLBEGOTTEN was less theme driven and more about the asthetic of Brian Rothwell. There were portraits of artist, self portraits, montages of movie scenes and more abstract and conceptual work.
It ended up being the best event to date at Heaven Studios Gallery.
